For when you wanna ask something,, but you don't want to write a whole big blog about it!
If you went to a 'sensor-induced' sink and or paper towel dispenser, and it did not work quickly or immediately,, how long would you wave your hands around like an idiot before you went to another sink? What if there was no secondary sink? What if you were all soapy lathered and then couldnt get the sink to reactivate? Then what!
I was picked as a Blogger of the Week by my girl Jessica over at The B Keeps us Honest.... which if your not a follower/subscriber you should TOTALLy do that right now!
Jessica always has a ton of fun giveaways to be involved in, but she also writes some amazing pieces about her family and delicious (looking please I cant cook!) recipes and reviews!!! Its always fresh and new and everytime you hit her page you will find something new.
But back to me!:) My first ever notice and award and attention? TO ME? I've only been 'officially blogging' for about a year, and I recently hit the #100 post!!? I can't believe I had 100 things to talk about but I also find myself thinking each day 'That should be a blog'...'what picture would entertain me in a blog about that!'..'How do I stay out of any one box'.
Anyway I hope some new bloggie friends have stumbled upon my page and I welcome all new friends! Please leave me a comment so I can come check you out too!!!:)
My fiance giving me (and you!) a toast to a new awesome beginning!
Whom asked me to marry him yesterday in the most amazing moment in my life, I kept saying 'holy crapballs' which just made him laugh at me because I was overcome with the awesomeness of this moment and this future with my most favorite person and the man who loves me for me and thinks my flaws are adorable, and I his,, and who I am myself with every moment of any day.
The 'champagne' my wonderful parents opened that they got from my sister's sweet boyfriend that they were 'waiting for the right time'. My mom was ecstatic and jumped and squealed with the same delight I did.
Then we went to an awesome dinner together and felt so wonderful and amazing with our own days' secrets getting congrats texts and calls and vmails from loving friends.
Then we stopped to see his parents and sister and they were so excited too and hugs were all around. His sister was excited to be getting a new sister:)... how sweet is that! (I told her she'd be inheriting two since I have a sister too!).
Then we went back to my parents house since my sister was on her way home with her bf and my older brother was expected home too. And we surprised them while my parents kept the secret during the dinner hours and there was MORE drinking champagne and spumante (better tasting) and hugs and squeals and jumping and my sister's reaction is the best so far..
Best reaction list: Sister, Mom,, Kevin's Dad:) They all seemed to kinda lose it with excitement (like me!).
So did I mention that Kevin's birthday is today so he did it the day before his bday!.. Tonite we have plans to see all his friends and I love that he was excited to 'ask' during his bday weekend (cause I totally like the entire month of Oct to celebrate my bday!)... so super sweet, but that means I have to get the house in order for company and get excited and cute for people to oogle the ring and us!:) yay!
last lil nugget that is fun. I went with a few friends to 'look at rings' so in case Kevin asked for their assistance they would know what to do to help him,, and since I am not a big jewelry person so I had no idea what I liked or even what to tell him. So we went and even though he did not ask ANYONE to help him,, he picked one of the three that I had selected at the same store (and yet went to many store before also).
It also fit perfectly the first time.... which in itself would have put me into a panic attack if I were the guy!.
So i guess you wanna see it right? Well I tried to take 100 pics yesterday and my camera is sub-par so here is a pic Kevin took before he gave it to me,,, so yeh,, those are his fingers in the pic (and his textbook in the background!).
This past weekend K and I went to one of our social events with new friends. We're new to this group so we're still getting to know everyone, which is always awkward (see my previous blog where I explain how these situations make me BONKERS).
Anyway for some reason one of the members of the group is particularly disliked by the rest of the group. I guess they have a long history of dislike and it has formed quite the hatred and anger towards her. Every time we are there she is the topic of conversation and their dislike. Its super frustrating and it makes it very hard for me to like/get comfortable with this group.
Do people every consider that their meanness towards others actually poorly reflects themselves? Every time they tease or dis-include or make comments it makes it harder to like them or trust them or even want to spend time with them again. It just shows their lack of character and class and its hugely upsetting.
At what point does a dislike for someone turn into a full blown hate that requires verbal bashing, disdain and constant judgment?
The hard part is I can see where they are annoyed by her but their hate and anger I can only conclude comes from other personal experiences, I just wish they did not have to emanate in every interaction or every conversation.
I don't understand it and I sometimes find interactions with people to be difficult or strained or painfully awkward or inappropriate. But I would hate for anyone to ever feel like I was not a loving caring person. I know that there are some people in my past that are easier to get along with than others, and I know there are some people that just like to push my buttons. I personally try to avoid those people as I would rather limit my interactions be they negative or positive than show a side of myself that I'm not proud or impressed with.
What do you do when your forced to interact with someone that you dislike. How do you keep your dislike from turning you into a lesser than ideal version of yourself? What do you do to be empathetic or kind with those who you disagree with.
Hey bloggies. So you may not know this about me, but I have an awesome career in an amazing field. I'm an audiologist, which means I test hearing and balance problems ,, yes we're the 'raise your hand when you hear the beep peoples'.
Anyway... while I'm stoked for BlogHer in August.. this weekend I have been blessed to be able to go to a conference in my field. To brush up on my knowledge and learn some of the newest things that are going on in my field. To be 'on the cutting edge' even just for a moment. To meet up with old classmates and colleagues.
So my internet access will be HUGELY limited. but I promise to keep up with your blogs and your lives when I return!:)
So I can not recall ever having been spanked in my life, nor can I recall my siblings undergoing these things. I know my mom and dad were and are very 'ahead of their time' when it comes to child development and parenting, so this is not surprising.
I wonder sometimes,, if I think of my friends if based on their current child-rearing or their behaviors if I could identify those that were spanked or not. Having known/knowing many of their parents now I can't imagine them disciplining in any other way and wouldnt' be totally shocked if they did it now.
So what do you think,, most of ya'll out there are mommies.. what do you think of this study and its effects on anger, behavior and even academics!
I'm joining up with Keely's Meme as the questions totally entertain me and I love reading others answers too!: )
1. What color do you wear the most? BLUE BLUE BLUE BLUE BLUE ,,,, because I have blue eyes and I'm obsesseed... but if you look in my closet sometimes you see mostly red,, but that is usually cause I love red but the blue is all in the laundry or in piles waiting to be put away.
2. Would you rather have $10,000 dollars or a dream vacation? Great question! I actually answered what I'd do with 10k a few months back HERE! I personally would put 5k in emergency savings and 5k into a wedding or home-deposit fund. The smarter choice would be to put it all towards my stupid student loans but I have other things to attend to first!:).
3. Do you have a weird, quirky or unusual habit? I don't know everything I do seems totally normal to me!:) I mean I walk into my apt door and strip into PJs asap.. I can NOT wear socks to sleep cause my feet panic,,,clutter makes me twitch sometimes...I sometimes feel compelled to clorox wipe everything around me and while I can totally cook my 'lets try this' interests in being more skilled than I actually am usually ruin foods.
4. I really need to start..........? writing more than one blog per week but I'm TOTALLY doing that right now... cause I'm going away and I know you'll miss me! I really need to start running again and going back to the gym too... but that's not nearly as fun.
5. What was the first blog you ever read? First ever was probably my cousin's baby blog as I needed to see her Lil Molly growing bigger and bigger. (and yes the obesssion continues).
6. Do you collect anything? I used to collect postcards when I was a kid but now I collect shot glasses. Whenever I go someplace or if my friends remember when they are in awesome places I get a interesting shot glass. The more 'different' it is the better. I got one when I was in Texas that has a cowboy hanging off the side of it. So awesome plus it reminds me of my trip for Shan/Michael's wedding.
7. How old were you when you had your first kiss? Hahaha kindergarten my friend and I used to sneak kisses when the teacher wasn't looking. His mom also used to pack me a fun napkin (like he got) so he could give me it daily too. Super cute.
8. Do you text/twitter while driving? Nope. I text while waiting for the red light or waiting for the drive thru but never ever in motion. It makes me panic.
Thanks for stopping by and GETTING TO KNOW ME a little better. If you want to check out other people's answers...go to Keely's website above and click on the linky links!!
The past few weeks you may have noticed I went MIA. I know a few of my followers have commented to me and the raw joy and love that I felt when you noticed is AMAZING and wonderful and is exactly the love and loyalty that rocks my world. My deepest thank you. I am going to write tons this weekend as its been in my head but my fingers and body were too busy/tired to let it out then. Its coming. Promise.
but today... I'd like to share some nuggets. I realize that I have some new followers, and while I may not have 100s or 1000s like other people that I enjoy reading, I feel best when I am being authentic and so I'd like to share with my followers (new and old) who I am. I also feel like when my core is shaken a bit (a post for another day), I too need to remind myself WHO I am.
I love any form of bread, cheese and sauce.. pizza sauce may flow in my veins or arteries or somethingorother.
I can't make people want to be happy, but I will try until it leaves me beaten.
I can juggle because my middle school had a 'semester' of gym glass devoted to teaching us. I can juggle rings, pins, tennis balls, and perhaps even bounce juggle if I had a few moments to remind my hands:).
I own approximately 15 pairs of dress pants and 2 pairs of jeans, which is so strange as I feel like my personal 'style' is jeans and not dress pants... hmmmm huh?
Oh Geez,, maybe my personal style is yoga pants and a tank top aka my pjs that go on STAT upon walking in my apt. EEEK the cat!.
I love dance music and anything that makes me dance in my car or in my living room, and I'm not afraid to belt out songs when I'm by myself (but totally afraid to sing in front of others w/o some kareoke-ishness... and booze).
I think crying during Grey's Anatomy and Hallmark commercials makes me human.
I can make you feel more comfortable and less awkward in a new situation even if I'm totally not.
I love reality television because I love people who are real, even if they're trying to be someone they're not,,they will eventually
People are so valuable to my soul and heart and life and I sometimes forget to say thank you.
I think jewelry is awesome and beautiful and I'm so lucky to have a mom who buys me amazing pieces. And I don't know how to wear it, and I try and try and try.... but as with everything I may mess it up,, but I'm going to keep trying.
I am a control freak. I would have never claimed myself to be that until a week ago when I realized that the lack of control really rocked my world.
I am always scared of new social situations, like a learned Aspergers Syndrome, but I LOVE finding new friends. I LOVE new people but I am petrified of new situations where I'd maybe meet them?
When I get really excited I sometimes squeak in a higher pitch, so basically only dogs in another country can hear me.
I sometimes use strange phrases that people think are strange but are just my normal vernacular.... like,,,,, vernacular... or circa or POA.. (I used to say POA as P.O.A. but then I met AB and she says POA as one word... like Boa only with a P,, she also only says the letter V when she is trying to express the thought... very... like if something is very cool.. she'll say 'v cool"... its catching i tell you!).
And finally...I am a scorpio... which I have found best described as "highly emotional and loyal to a fault'.. BINGO ... I get worked up easily and I care deeply and hurt deeply because my loyalty is with those I care about long before they realize I care,, and probably long after they stop caring.
I am a woman trying to let life progress as naturally as possible in my years towards goals of career, family, and love. I attempt to cook things (sometimes it works well sometimes I burn things), and decorate, and mostly I just banter about whatever comes to mind. (hence meandering).
